My course grade isn't calculating correctly! Of the 10 items in the grade book, I have 100% on
all but one, which is a zero. By my calculations, I should have a 90% course grade, but it's showing only
75%.
The overall course grade in Lexophile is based on the total number of points earned divided by the total number points available at a given time (future assignments as not counted). So if the last item in the grade book is worth more points than the first nine items, the grade you get on it will have a bigger influence on the overall grade than the others. The grades in the grade book are given as a percentage for your convenience, so you can quickly see which items you should re-do for a better grade. Furthermore, in some courses there are multiple grade categories (regular homework, in-class quiz, chapter test, etc.) that are "weighted" differently, which can also cause the overall grade to differ from what you calculate just based on percentages showing for each item in the grade book. If your course uses weighted categories, the assigned weight for each category can be found in your course syllabus.
